Health is a top priority for many. But, for truckers who spend much of their days on the road, staying healthy can be a challenge.
However, there are ways to overcome these hazards to ensure good health. Here are some healthy truck driver tips that will benefit you.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
Dehydration is a major health concern. It can lead to other wellness issues as well. So, drink lots of water. Keep a container of water by your side to sip throughout the day. It’ll keep you cool on the road too.
EAT YOUR FRUITS & VEGGIES
Sure, you’ve heard this one before! But, it’s true. Fruits and vegetables add nutrients and vitamins to your body. Additionally, they help with digestion too. However, fruit contains a lot of sugar, so don’t overdo it. Smoothies work great while on the road.
EASY ON THE STIMULANTS
Coffee and energy drinks work well for the moment, but the effect only lasts a short while. Moreover, coffee adds to dehydration. Do not overcompensate lack of sleep with energy drinks. Your body needs rest when it needs it.
EAT LIGHT & LESS JUNK FOOD
Big meals take a lot of energy to digest which can result in fatigue. But, eating little meals throughout the day can boost your energy. Take it easy on the junk food as well. Fatty foods can clog your arteries.
TAKE YOUR VITAMINS
Since achieving a proper diet can be somewhat of a challenge for truckers, consider taking a multi-vitamin. Speak with a nutritionist about which supplements are right for you.
GET OUT & STRETCH
A 15-minute walk or a quick stretch to get your body circulating will do wonders to your overall health. For truckers to stay healthy, this is one of the best tips to follow.
And don’t forget to get lots of sleep! All heavy haulers need to get their rest, too.
