It’s finally summertime. The weather is hot and the sun is out and Fourth of July is just a day away! Whether you’re looking for last minute plans in the Charlotte area or a short trip to different parts of North Carolina, the options are endless!
If you’re in Charlotte for the Fourth this year, you’re in for a treat! The city will be consisting of lots of different events to celebrate America’s birthday!
To start your day off, you can head to the Charlotte Museum of History anytime from 10 AM to 2 PM for free. The museum features different exhibits that will teach you everything you need to know about America’s history. They will also have carnival activities just for the Fourth. Although the event is free, you have to get a ticket on their website to reserve a spot.
In downtown Charlotte, the Matthews People’s Parade will be starting at 5:30 PM that features big floats, bands, and entertainers. After the parade, there will be live music at Stumptown Park followed by fireworks at night.
Want to Get Out of Town for the Fourth of July?
U.S. National Whitewater Center is celebrating on Tuesday and Wednesday with live music, festivities, food, and games. The event will end with a fireworks show that starts at 9:30 PM on both nights.
If you’re near Banner Elk or Beech Mountain, consider going to the Mile High Fourth of July celebration event. First, they are starting off with the parade at 11 AM for their 3rd annual celebration. After the parade, there will be lots of food and activities for people at Evans Town Park. The games include oldies like the egg-toss and a duck race along the creek! Who wouldn’t want to see a live duck race? There will also be live bands with some great singers!
Lastly, celebrate in Old Town with Red, White, & Boom’s event. They will be featuring Bruno Mars’s band, roller coasters, food, eating contests, and kids’ zone activities. The fireworks show will be starting at 9:45 PM.
If you are drinking, Lyft is offering free rides only on the Fourth. Make sure to get home safely!
